Student name: Luis Murillo Garcia Course: English III Essay #1 – Overload Information Date: 27/09/12

Introduction Technology is one of the biggest human inventions nowadays. It has brought - many advantages and benefits. However, it is starting to get out of control. This is happening because of the information overload received. So how do we control technology? Every day we received thousands of emails to discover new technologies, health care tips and other overload information.

Although technology has innovated and changed people’s life , people are wasting time, having physical problems and experiencing emotional disorders due to information overload. Some of you are having tremors right now because it is hard to unsubscribe from these lists. You feel like you are going to miss something not only related to country news but also related to what some people want to know. The key factor is NOT what you might miss, but what you are actually doing to manage this overload of information given by technology. We are interconnected; society is transforming media, science and our everyday lives.

Every day in the world more technologies are created to keep people more informed; it is a way of life for people now. We need self-control of the technology to avoid the problems and take advantage to learn and increase our knowledge in any interesting topic. Some of the people problems due to overload information are the consumption of calories in order to avoid overweight. Moreover, this information development is typically accompanied by a general increase in the factors that underly overall quality of life: health, safety, education, democracy and freedom.

Some of the emotional disorder regarding information overload is the compulsive web surfing, some people spend lot of time searching information. Some people who spend their time reading books, news and magazines suffer from many fears as they are influenced by violence. They are afraid to leave their homes and interact with people. Other people also suffered from mental illness because read information about end of time.

My conclusion regarding overload information is to focus on it to imply a technological solution to reduce the quantity of information, perhaps by eliminating duplicate data. This may ease the size of the problem and may be part of the ultimate solution; However, the challenge is very complex because of quantity. Let’s work together to reduce the quantity of emails and use the internet or collaboration, blogs to communicate among us.
